The Petoskey-Harbor Springs Area Community Foundation is currently inviting eligible nonprofit organizations, educational institutions, faith-based organizations (or churches), and municipalities to apply to our Spring 2026 grant cycle. The Community Foundation’s strategic grantmaking supports nonprofit organizations, schools, and local governments whose work aligns with our mission to improve the quality of life for all people in Emmet County.
Interested applicants should begin with an email inquiry to [email protected]. The Community Foundation’s grants team, Sarah Ford and Jake Myers, will contact prospective applicants to learn more about their proposed projects and answer questions about the Community Foundation’s grantmaking process. Eligible organizations will then be invited to submit a grant application.
The Community Foundation encourages interested organizations to reach out as early as possible. Inquiries will be accepted through February 23, 2026. Inquiries after February 23 will be asked to wait until the fall grant cycle to apply. Spring grant applications are due March 2, 2026, at 11:59 PM.
The grants team will hold a virtual Grant Cycle Information Session on February 3 at 11 AM via Zoom. Application review will take place following the grant deadline and will engage advisory committees made up of community members. Youth- and family-focused applications will be reviewed by the foundation’s Youth Advisory Committee (YAC), made up of 25 area teens. The YAC will prioritize proposals that address issues identified in the Youth Needs Assessment, with the highest priority on youth mental health. Applicants will be notified of funding decisions in late April 2026.
There is no maximum grant request amount; applicants are encouraged to request the funding needed to support their proposed work. Last cycle we awarded over $450,000 from a variety of funding sources; individual awards average around $7,800.
