Disaster Relief Resources Available

Our community is still cleaning up from this spring's devastating ice storm. We remain committed to supporting recovery efforts for as long as it takes. Thanks to the tremendous generosity of our donors, we’ve raised $360,674 to aid in storm relief. So far, we’ve issued 30 grants totaling $220,990.

As we move through the next phases of recovery, it's important to know that help is still available.

Storm Recovery Resources Currently Available:

Emergency Response Fund Grants

The Community Foundation still has grant funds available to support local nonprofits, schools, municipalities (including townships and villages), and churches responding to storm-related needs. If your organization or the community/clients you serve are still recovering or continue to experience storm-related impacts, we encourage you to reach out — we’re here to help.

Home Repair Assistance

Tree removal and home repair remain a need throughout Emmet County. We're pleased to announce that the Community Foundation has provided funding to Northwest Michigan Community Action Agency (NMCAA) to help residents with home repairs and dangerous tree removal. NMCAA has lists of qualified, licensed, and insured local inspectors and contractors ready to assist, including roofers, plumbers, and HVAC technicians.

Funding is available for residents of Charlevoix and Emmet Counties earning up to 300% of the Federal Poverty Guidelines (approximately $96,000 for a family of four).

SBA Disaster Loans for Small Businesses and Nonprofits

The U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) is offering low-interest disaster loans for businesses and nonprofits affected by the ice storm. These loans can cover both physical damages and economic losses.

In-person support is available Monday–Friday, 8 am–5 pm, at Little Traverse Township Hall. You can also apply online.
